SEDL Leads MIC Delegation to Xiamen
The Secretary for Economic Development and Labour and Chairman of the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council (MIC), Mr Stephen Ip, today (April 19) leads a MIC delegation to Xiamen to promote Hong Kong's port and maritime services, including its shipping registry, marine insurance, ship finance, ship-broking and maritime law.
The visit will help strengthen the relationship between the maritime communities in Fujian and Hong Kong, and update the local maritime community on the latest development of the shipping industry and maritime services in Hong Kong.
MIC will organise a seminar in Xiamen tomorrow to promote the quality maritime services available in Hong Kong.
During his stay in Xiamen, Mr Ip will meet with Vice-Governor of the Fujian Provincial Government, Mr Ye Shuangyu, officials of the Xiamen Municipal Government and the Port Administration Bureau as well as representatives of the maritime and port industry.
Members of the delegation include the Director of Marine, Mr Roger Tupper, Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Miss Janice Tse, MIC members Mr Frank Tsao and Mr Liang Ming-hang, Hong Kong Port Development Council member, Professor Victor Sit, and representatives of various sectors of Hong Kong's maritime cluster.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 21.
