MIC Exhibition on Career and Education Opportunities of Maritime Industry

Young people and job-seekers are invited to visit the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council (MIC) exhibition booth to get a better understanding of the career opportunities of the maritime services cluster and the related training programmes at the Education and Careers Expo 2006 jointly organised by the Labour Department and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at Hall 5, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 23 - 26. Admission is free.

Presented by the MIC to promote the professional image of the maritime industry and the training requirements of the seafaring careers, the booth gives a comprehensive picture of various sectors of the maritime industry in Hong Kong, ranging from sea-going careers, ship management, ship finance, marine insurance, maritime arbitration, ship broking to maritime law.

It also features the career opportunities and prospects of the maritime sectors, as well as the various maritime-related education programmes offered by three institutes, namely, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Maritime Services Training Institute of the Vocational Training Council and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).

A video on the training requirements and career paths of seafaring will also be on show throughout the exhibition period.

Apart from the exhibition, a sea-going career talk will be held in the afternoon of February 26. A representative of the Maritime Professionals Promotion Federation and two ship cadets will share their sea-going experience with the participants.
